Long lines and busy vote centers marked Election Day in Delaware County

Early voting was up, and lines still ran long

30+ minutes

1+ hour
wait reported at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church

If you voted in person Tuesday, you probably waited. Delaware County vote centers saw long lines and busy rooms, and by late afternoon some waits topped 30 minutes. Anyone already in line at the 6 p.m. close could still vote. County Clerk Rick Spangler said some voters at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church waited more than an hour, partly because the long ballot took nearly twice as long to fill out as usual.

The Daily News found lines as early as 6 a.m.: more than 40 people at the Yorktown YMCA and about 40 to 50 already lining up at the Fairgrounds. Voter Scott Underwood said, "Today it's the busiest I've ever seen it." Spangler said he didn't expect overall turnout to top 2022.

  • Typical time in the booth: four to five minutes
  • Daleville Fire Department: all six machines occupied since opening
  • Northside Church of God: scanner replaced, no other major issues

At least 350 voters showed up at each of three vote centers
