Dr. Jeffery C. Bird, a lifelong Delaware County resident and president of IU Health East Region, has been named the recipient of the Greater Muncie Chamber's 2025 Legacy Award—recognizing his significant contributions to local health care and community service.
The award will be presented at the Legacy Dinner on Sept. 18 at the Horizon Convention Center.
💼 Business
Several Joann fabric and craft stores in Indiana closed in April, with sites in Angola, Indianapolis, Jasper, Marion, Michigan City, Plymouth, Richmond, South Bend, and Vincennes shutting down.
Five locations in Avon, Bedford, Bloomington, Columbus, and Greenwood remain open for liquidation sales — they do not have official closing dates yet.

The poll for IU Health Athlete of the Week is open until noon Friday, May 2 to choose from 10 high school athletes in the Muncie area who had standout performances from April 21 to 26—voters may cast multiple votes online.
