- ➤ On Dec. 9 at Central High School, Pacers Sports and Entertainment, JAKKS Pacific Toys and the Muncie Police Department distributed toys to local children and families during the 16th annual Big Toy Giveaway — an event supported by longtime benefactors that has reached hundreds of thousands statewide. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Delaware County Historical Society turned 100 on Friday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. Founded in 1925 in anticipation of the county’s centennial, the society has long preserved local history through lectures and archived records in Muncie. Star Press
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Ten Indiana natives remain in contention in the NCAA volleyball tournament’s Round of 16. Regional semifinals are Thursday and Friday; catch Creighton vs. Arizona State at 1 p.m. on ESPN2 today and Indiana vs. Texas at noon Friday (featuring local players). Star Press
- ➤ Fourteen college volleyball players with Indiana high school roots have entered the transfer portal, including Notre Dame's Morgan Gaerte and Stanford's Reese Dunkle. The portal opened on Dec. 7 and will close Jan. 5, and updates on their new placements will be shared as they develop. Star Press
