- ➤ Bette Smith will start as director of Ball State University's Center for Innovation and Collaboration on Jan. 5. She will manage operations, strategic direction and partnership building at the center on Ashland Avenue and Martin Street, which is set to open in Fall 2026 as part of the Village revitalization plan. - ➤ Muncie was chosen as one of five communities in Indiana to receive state tax credits from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority to build the Crossing at Trails Edge, a four story 98-unit senior apartment complex at 610 E. Wysor St near the Cardinal Greenway. The $24.8 million project by TWG Development will replace the McGuff Roofing site + support nearby townhome and other local development efforts. Star Press
