Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 14th of November.
Good morning, Muncie.
In the late 1800s, Muncie residents suffered from long tapeworm infections because poor food safety laws and unproven cures from traveling quacks (some of which removed worms up to 55 feet long) meant that dangerous treatments were common.
Modern antiparasitic drugs and improved sanitation eventually ended these widespread infections.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, gas prices in the Midwest reached an average of $2.91 per gallon on Monday, up from $2.83 last week—regional prices are about 4.8% lower than the national average of $3.06 per gallon.
The report noted that prices increased by 10 cents since last month.
Eastern Michigan safety Bryce Llewellyn will play on November 15 at Ball State, where his father Marlon once played and now works as a senior academic advisor—marking a full-circle moment for the family.
