EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Local schools—including Muncie Community Schools—received over $1 million from the state Secured School Safety Grant Program to upgrade resource officer support, warning systems, and other safety measures. The funding is part of a $27 million state investment allocated to 494 schools statewide. Star Press
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ A poll remains open for voters to choose the IU Health Football Player of the Week as six high school nominees are recognized for their game-winning performances, including Delta running back Aven Thomas + who scored four touchdowns in a 27-20 win over New Castle. - ➤ Delta's boys tennis team won its 33rd straight sectional title by beating Yorktown 5-0 on Oct. 2—Freshmen helped the Eagles complete a 17-2 season, and they will face Westfield at Regional 14 on Oct. 7.
