The crossroads near Scheumann Stadium was once a small town called Andersonville—founded in 1896 by Nathan and Alice Anderson on a farm later sold to Ball State Teachers College—and today it draws fans for game-day tailgating on Bethel Pike.
Ball State University's Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning will host a grand opening for its new downtown facility at 306 S.
Walnut St. from 5 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 2— the free event coincides with the city's First Thursday ArtsWalk and annual Soup Crawl and will feature remarks from university leaders along with interactive displays.
Today, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie has been recertified as a Level III obstetric and neonatal facility by the Indiana Department of Health—meeting state rules that require hospitals to care for complex maternal cases and newborns.
The certification remains in effect until May 2027—assuring mothers and doctors of its advanced care capabilities.
Ball State University will host an open house on Sept.
24 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Jo Ann Gora Student Recreation & Wellness Center—located at 1700 W. Neely Ave—where guests can learn about fitness assessments, training sessions and a limited signup offer redeemable by Oct. 24.
Ball State football will travel to UConn for its final non-conference game before conference play begins on October 4, with both teams holding 1-2 records.
Coach Mike Uremovich said the Cardinals will try to use a strong rushing attack to challenge UConn’s defense—currently struggling with turnovers and dealing with injuries.
