EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ South View Elementary opened a new playground for children ages 5 to 12 that is built to last—its $226,000 grant provided swings, slides, climbing areas, ramps and mobility aids for students with disabilities. The upgrade is part of ongoing improvements in Muncie Community Schools. Star Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Delaware County commissioners issued an emergency burn ban on Wednesday due to severe drought conditions, prohibiting campfires, open burning of brush, timber and debris to reduce wildfire risks. The ban remains in effect until 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30 unless lifted sooner by volunteer fire chiefs — local law enforcement may enforce the measures. Star Press
