Prairie Creek Reservoir, built in a valley that was once a vast swamp, has served as a municipal water supply and public park since its completion in November 1960.
The landmark (first stocked with fish in June 1961) remains a cherished recreational space for Munsonians.
🎭 Culture
The Montpelier Historical Society is hosting Rendezvous on the Reserve, a three-day living history event showcasing Native village exhibits, fur trade encampments and re-enactments.
It will run Sept. 18-20 on the historic Godfroy Reservation in Blackford County (featuring Johnny Appleseed appearances) (and including a Student Education Day for hands-on learning).
🎓 Education
Muncie Community Schools increased its third-grade reading proficiency to 86% today as all six elementary schools surpassed 80% with notable gains at Longfellow and Grissom Elementary + progress continues since 2022 amid statewide literacy efforts.
🏛️ Government
Gov Braun extended Indiana's gas tax suspension until Oct.
6 (he will review the pause in 30 days) to help keep fuel prices low for locals.
