- ➤ A Ball State University professor, Monte D. Antrim, was charged Aug. 27 with driving while intoxicated after his pickup truck hit two motorcyclists on Aug. 15 near Main and Walnut streets in Daleville—one rider died while the other suffered a broken leg. Star Press
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Jobless claims in Indiana rose to 2,652 for the week ending August 23—up from 2,574 the week before—while overall U.S. claims dropped to 229,000 from 234,000, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Star Press
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Honeyvine milkweed is a native Indiana plant that is considered a weed because it grows rapidly in yards and gardens. Home gardeners are advised to trim the plant regularly to keep it from going to seed—a process that starts this time of year. Star Press
