- ➤ Ball State University will celebrate Bracken Library’s 50th anniversary on Tuesday, Sept. 9 in the library’s main lobby from 6 to 7:30 p.m.—the free event will feature Grammy Award-winning alum Angelin Chang and live jazz music while additional early-September events highlight the library’s history and services. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Indiana’s mosquito season officially runs from May 1 to Oct 1 but may extend into November if warm weather persists—experts say mosquitoes become inactive once temperatures drop below 50 and urge homeowners to remove standing water to reduce breeding sites. As of Aug 27, at least 10 cases of mosquito-borne illness have been reported in the state, including 4 in Marion County. Star Press

- ➤ Ball State football will play Purdue on Saturday, Aug. 30 at noon as head coach Mike Uremovich makes his debut against his alma mater—both teams will look to rebound from tough 2024 seasons and test their new rosters in a key early season matchup.
