EDUCATION NEWS

  • Muncie-area school superintendents say a new property tax law will reduce funding for public schools by requiring them to share local tax money with charter schools—Muncie Community Schools has cut costs by bringing maintenance staff in-house, saving about $1 million per year. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 1 — government offices, the BMV and postal services will be closed so residents should plan ahead for the holiday weekend. Stores like Target and Walmart will be open while Costco is closed and trash pickup in Indianapolis will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 2.  Star Press
