On Aug. 13, Accutech Systems of Muncie earned a spot on the Inc. 5000 list for the fifth consecutive time, driven by growth in its three business units.
The honor recognizes one-tenth of 1% of private companies that achieve this feat nationwide.
🎭 Culture
Ball State University’s Emens Auditorium revealed its 2026-27 season featuring Broadway productions, concerts, comedy and family events.
The season opens with Rhinestone Cowgirls: Legendary Ladies of Country Music on Sept. 18 at Pruis Hall and tickets are available via Ticketmaster & box office.
🎓 Education
Andrea Streaty of Longfellow and Morgan Leckie of Muncie Central have been named Teachers of the Year for the 2025–26 school year by Muncie Community Schools, receiving plaques and $1,000 each during the staff welcome back event on Aug.
12. The honors recognize their contributions to student success.
🌲 Environment
The National Weather Service in Indianapolis issued a record 14 flash flood warnings Wednesday – far exceeding previous counts.
Heavy rain dropped over 11 inches in parts of the region and additional storms are expected tonight, prompting ongoing vigilance against flooding.
🏛️ Government
Floodwaters left homes along Manville Road in Irvington Heights underwater yesterday, and officials warned further rain may worsen flooding today and tomorrow.
The mayor declared a disaster emergency and urged evacuation as the White River nears major flood stage with a crest of 18.9 feet expected.
🏈 Sports
Ball State men's basketball released its full 2026-27 schedule under new head coach Chris Capko on Wednesday, Aug.
12. The season features exhibition games at Purdue and at Purdue Fort Wayne, a season opener at Georgia Southern, and 22 MAC games for the Cardinals.
Ball State women's basketball released its 2026‑27 schedule, featuring a nonconference slate with four NCAA Tournament teams and a Maui Classic trip — 18 MAC games include two contests each against Miami (Ohio) and Toledo.
The season opens at home on Nov. 2 versus Arkansas State.
