- ➤ A federal appeals court ruled on August 5 that Indiana's state law requiring a 25-foot buffer between on-duty officers and bystanders is unconstitutionally vague because it might let officers arrest people for simply approaching for directions, and further proceedings will decide if the law is fully blocked. - ➤ A letter to the editor from Muncie resident Scott Thompson reveals that his grandfather, Oral—a captain in the Indiana National Guard—shot himself at the Muncie armory with a .45-caliber pistol on Dec. 27th, 1932 due to financial struggles.
