Police said that on July 31, around 7:25 p.m., Muncie resident Avery Caid Bowden, 28, fatally shot alleged friend Ronnie Lee West II and his dog on the 900 block of South Burlington Drive—Bowden claims self-defense after West attacked him with a rock though no rock was found—while officers responded to the scene.
