- ➤ An affiliate of Onyx Partners is paying $947 million to buy 119 JCPenney stores from Copper Property with a closing set for Sept. 8—this deal comes as the retailer operates about 650 stores despite seven closures earlier this year. - ➤ Summit Christian School will open on Aug. 6 at the north-side church campus in Muncie and will offer pre-kindergarten through second grade to 20 to 25 students with three teachers initially teaching inside the church building while new classrooms are under construction—sponsored by Glad Tidings Church, the school is open to all families seeking education aligned with a conservative Christian worldview and plans to expand through 12th grade with additional sports programs and voucher opportunities.
