The Muncie/Delaware County Senior Citizens Center faced serious money troubles last year—its gym floor replacement cost around $80,000 and funds were too short to pay employees, so board member Susan Dillon helped by weeding the Veterans Garden.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development laid off 123 employees this week due to state and federal funding cuts — most of the layoffs affected unemployment insurance and workforce program staff.
This move follows similar staffing cuts at other state agencies in June.
