Good morning, Muncie. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 10th of July.

CULTURE NEWS

  • Muncie’s outdoor warning sirens were first installed by Delaware County’s Civilian Defense Corps in 1942 for air raid drills and later evolved into today’s Emergency Alert System that now warns residents of severe weather. On April 2, three tornadoes struck Delaware County, causing dozens of structures to be damaged, six homes to be destroyed, and power to be lost for 12,000 customers (official county reports confirm the impact).  Star Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • EA Sports College Football 26 officially releases today, and pre-order players have already received the game that rates Ball State as a 68 overall team—the lowest rating tied with Kent State. Ball State players say the low rating fuels motivation to improve, and they expect Dynasty mode rebuilds to boost the team’s profile this season.  Star Press
