Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 8th of July.
Good morning, Muncie.
Indiana public universities cut or consolidated about 400 degree programs after the Commission for Higher Education announced the changes on June 30 in response to a new state law that ties program continuation to minimum graduate counts.
Many faculty and staff warned that the cuts may limit academic freedom + reduce the breadth of the liberal arts, while state leaders said the changes will better match programs with workforce needs.
Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita warned consumers today that recalled items from June — including baby walkers, cribs and electric blankets — may pose serious hazards.
He urged people to stop using these products and follow recall instructions to return, fix, dispose of or replace them.
Wapahani's Nate Luce earned the Star Press Male Athlete of the Year award after winning five sectionals and leading his teams to many regional and state wins in basketball and baseball.
He will join Marian University to play basketball and study nursing—steps that follow his record-setting high school career.
EA Sports College Football 26 released early access on Monday, July 7 + will be fully released on Thursday, July 10.
The video game shows Ball State football is rated 68 overall with running back Qua Ashley as the top player at 81.
