  • 7 Brew, a drive-thru coffee chain, will open new locations in 16 states by Aug. 1 + including Indiana where customers can soon enjoy a familiar coffee option. Founded in Rogers, Arkansas in 2017, the chain has grown to over 400 outlets nationwide + expanding its menu offerings.  Star Press

CRIME NEWS

  • Muncie police investigated the fatal shooting of a 39-year-old man at a home on the 1700 block of East Centennial Avenue after receiving a call at 7:35 a.m. on June 18th; he was pronounced dead at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital and an unidentified male is in custody—coroners said an autopsy will be conducted later this week.  Star Press

  • If the House’s federal budget proposal called the One Big Beautiful Bill Act goes forward, Indiana homeowners will lose tax credits for solar panels, batteries, and energy-efficient appliances—raising costs and threatening thousands of local clean energy jobs. The Senate will soon review the changes as lawmakers and industry experts warn that the cuts could hurt home improvement efforts and local businesses.  Star Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bands of America Summer Camp will be held at Ball State University from June 21 to 28 as the rebranded continuation of the former Music for All Summer Symposium. More than 800 students and 150 school directors from across the country will attend the camp—offering divisions like drum major and marching band—and local performances will be scheduled each evening.  Star Press
  • The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County announced 12 scholarship recipients, including Madelyn Cooper from Delta High School who will study communications at Ball State and Bryce Hahn from Cowan Jr./Sr. High School who will study business and data information at Purdue. Other winners, drawn from local high schools like Yorktown and Daleville, were recognized for achievements that span fields such as nursing, environmental science, and information technology as they prepare for college.  Star Press
