  • MadJax Maker Force and The Guardian Brewing Company will host a free summer courtyard concert series on select Saturday evenings in downtown Muncie. The events at the MadJax Courtyard at 515 E. Main St.—starting with Normal City Slickers on Saturday, June 14—will offer family-friendly live music with food and drinks available from The Guardian Brewing Company.  Star Press

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Michael J. Hicks from Ball State University said new AI tools will soon take over boring jobs and make special human skills more needed—like past changes from the wheel to computers. He added that workers will need to get more training to adapt to these shifts—helping the labor market grow over time.  Star Press
  • Egg prices in Indiana have dropped as local grocery stores now sell a dozen eggs for as low as $2.96 after a USDA report on June 3 showed prices fell from a March peak of $6.23 to an average of $5.12. Prices vary at retailers — Aldi, Kroger and Walmart offer some of the lowest rates— as the market continues to adjust.  Star Press

  • On June 6, eggs from August Egg Company were recalled after they were linked to a salmonella outbreak that caused 79 hospitalizations in nine states — consumers should dispose of or return eggs with plant codes P-6562 or CA5330 and clean any surfaces to reduce risk if severe symptoms occur.  Star Press

  • The poll for The Star Press Athlete of the Week for June 3-7 is open until noon Friday, letting readers vote for one of five nominees including reigning champion Drew Fredenburg from Shenandoah baseball who helped secure the team’s first sectional title in 19 years.   • Ball State Athletics announced its Hall of Fame Class of 2025 featuring five athletes and one team that won 11 conference titles (including sports like volleyball, track, golf, tennis, and football); the inductees will be honored at a ceremony on Oct. 3 at the Ball State Alumni Center.  Star Press
