CRIME NEWS

  • A pool house in Muncie was the scene on May 27 when Paige M. Orebaugh was found dead and her ex-girlfriend Ashleigh Ann Wells was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and strangulation with a $10,000 cash bond—formal charges have not yet been filed.  Star Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Trevor Friedeberg announced his decision to step down as president and CEO of the East Central Indiana Regional Partnership to be closer to family; the board named longtime member Caitlin Hancock as interim CEO—she has over a decade of experience and statewide relationships— to maintain the organization’s regional focus.  Star Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Yorktown High School softball won its fourth straight sectional title by beating Hamilton Heights 14—3 on May 29 at Delta High School, led by three seniors who set the team's motto 'mentality, attitude, effort' and scored 10 runs in the final two innings. The Tigers will play in a one-game regional championship on June 3.  Star Press
  • Cowan won a 9—4 game over Wes-Del on May 28 in the IHSAA sectional tournament where Thomas Brooks and Gentry Groves led the team with key hits and strong pitching. Cowan will play Southern Wells on May 31 in the sectional semifinals.  Star Press
