Ball State University will host its first 'We Fly Fest' from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at the Brown Family Amphitheater—offering campus tours, live music, games and food trucks while free parking and shuttles run to the event.

On May 22, Muncie completed a downtown revitalization project when the city, Muncie Redevelopment Commission, Muncie Downtown Development Partnership and Community Enhancement Projects installed new water reservoir planters that replaced over-a-decade damaged ones—a move intended to support local businesses and attract further investment. The upgrade marks significant progress in strengthening our urban core.

Former Muncie City Council member Mary Jo Barton, who served five terms from 1995 to 2015, died on May 23rd at an Indianapolis hospital after a battle with lung cancer—she was a long-time community activist dedicated to representing Muncie's south side.

Wapahani High School will hire Jeff Andrews (who served as an assistant coach for nine years) as the new boys basketball coach pending school board approval on June 3, replacing Coach Matt Luce who led the team to three regional titles and a state finals run; Brad Miller was also named the new athletic director to fill the vacancy.

High school athletes and coaches were honored Tuesday, May 27 at the Delaware County Athletic Awards at Horizon Convention Center.

The event recognized top performances in sports, academics, and community service from eight local schools — reflecting a strong commitment to excellence in our community.

Voters can choose one of 10 nominees for The Star Press IU Health Athlete of the Week for May 19-24 while voting closes at noon Saturday, May 31 (votes submitted by email are not counted).

Reigning champion Joseph Geesaman won last week with 56.09% of over 21,000 votes cast.
