CRIME NEWS

  • Muncie teenager Julius Sanchez, 17, was charged with murder for allegedly shooting 20-year-old DeJay DayQuan Kidd on the front porch of a home in the 2300 block of South Elm Street on Feb 7 — he also faces charges of two counts of obstruction of justice and dangerous possession of a firearm.  Star Press
  • Two Muncie residents—Bethaney Ann Greenlee, 37, and Nicholas Dewayne Smith, 38—were arrested Friday when police served a search warrant at their home on South Mock Avenue after investigators linked them to storage unit break-ins that stole items valued at $11,346 including rings, shoes and furniture.  Star Press

FINANCE NEWS

  • Tax Day ended April 15 and taxpayers who missed the deadline can file for an extension that allows federal returns to be submitted by Oct. 15 while Indiana returns can be filed by Nov. 17—taxpayers still must pay most of their due taxes by the original deadline to avoid extra charges.  Star Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Wes-Del softball overcame a 4-0 deficit to beat Daleville 5-4 in nine innings on Tuesday - the win was sealed by two ninth-inning errors that allowed the winning run to score. Senior pitcher Bailee West threw a complete game with 16 strikeouts, and the Warriors moved to the top of the MEC standings.  Star Press
  • Ball State football opens its 10-day spring transfer portal window today until April 25 as it works to adjust its 106-player roster with 12 new student-athletes expected this summer. Running back Christian Davis—who joined as a freshman and redshirted after a knee injury—became the first player to announce his transfer entry.  Star Press
