  • Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy: Chapter Two will be held at La Hacienda, 2620 S. Madison St. from April 9-11, featuring 90-minute shows where Poe historians read four stories paired with themed cocktails — tickets cost $55 and attendance is limited to those 21 or older.  Star Press
  • Local historian Chris Flook recounted a 1906 chicken theft in Shedtown, once known as Bloody Run + Boxtown, when neighbor Ella Reed accused Lizzie Keating of stealing her Plymouth Rock hen and judge Frank Gass cleared the charges, recalling the area’s boisterous gas-boom era.  Star Press

  • Fifth-grader Carini Lyons from Burris Laboratory School advanced to the quarterfinals in the Bob Ross America’s Most Artistic Kid contest as public voting continues until April 9+ if her art wins, it will be featured at the Minnetrista Cultural Center exhibit.  Star Press

  • The Indiana High School Athletic Association announced new sectional assignments for East Central Indiana fall and winter sports, with Delta and Jay County moving to Class 4A football and adjustments in basketball, soccer, and volleyball for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years.  Star Press
  • Delta girls basketball coach Tyronda Benning stepped down April 1 to focus on her family after three seasons that brought three county championships. Delta Athletics posted a job opening as it begins the search for a new head coach.  Star Press
