GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Muncie Redevelopment Commission bought the old Concannon's Pastry Shop property for $650,000, ending plans for a convenience store and gas station near Central High School. City officials say they will work with local groups to plan new development that addresses safety and traffic concerns — more discussions are expected.  Star Press
  • U.S. Rep. Victoria Spartz will host a town hall meeting on Saturday, March 29 at Muncie City Hall (300 N. High St) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. She is in her third term representing Indiana's 5th District.  Star Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Star Press has opened a fan vote for the IU Health Boys Basketball Player of the Year featuring nominees from local teams as the season ended. The poll is open until Friday, March 28th at noon ET—votes submitted via email will not be counted.  Star Press
  • The NCAA transfer portal opened on March 24 and will remain open until April 22 as Ball State rebuilds its roster after finishing with a 14-17 record and missing the MAC Tournament for the second year. Leading scorer Jermahri Hill, along with Juanse Gorosito and freshman TJ Burch, have entered the portal as the team prepares to add new players next season.  Star Press
