CULTURE NEWS

  • Lee Alverson will perform an Elton John tribute on April 11 at 7 p.m. at the Arts Place Jay County Campus (131 E. Walnut St.) as part of the 2026 Eric R. Rogers Performing Arts Series; tickets cost $20 and are available online.  Star Press

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Indiana's weekly jobless claims edged up last week to 2,637 from 2,586, according to the Labor Department. Nationwide, total claims dropped by 8,000 to 205,000 on a seasonally adjusted basis.  Star Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Ball State is expected to hire 42-year-old Chris Capko as its next men’s basketball coach, replacing Michael Lewis after four seasons. Capko, known for his time as an assistant at USC and SMU (a top national recruiter), is in negotiations to rebuild a program that has not reached the NCAA Tournament since 2000.  Star Press
  • The Herald-Times released its March Madness predictions, listing Final Four picks and matchups including Duke and Michigan. Indiana beat reporter Michael Niziolek provided expert forecasts to guide local fans as the tournament unfolds.  Star Press
