- ➤ The eighth annual Community Seed Swap and Giveaway is set for March 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at Minnetrista Museum and Gardens. Gardeners, families and nature lovers can exchange free seeds and engage with local experts — an indoor Farmers Market will also run concurrently in the Center Building. Star Press

- ➤ On March 17, Muncie brought back its 39th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade downtown as spectators braved 22° weather by gathering in storefront doorways and refreshment areas, and city officials celebrated the event’s return after a 2025 cancellation. Star Press
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ In early March 1897, heavy rains caused the White River to breach the Whitely Levee and flood neighborhoods in Muncie, with rescuers + locals using boats, wagons and horses to aid stranded residents. Levee improvements by the U.S. Army Corps in the 1940s have since reduced flood severity. Star Press
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Danny Pinter, who spent his football career in Indiana (from high school ball in South Bend to six seasons with the Colts), signed a 1-year, $2.75 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens on March 17 to compete for the starting center role. Star Press
- ➤ Ball State basketball players announced plans to enter the transfer portal after the season ended and coach Michael Lewis was fired. Several players, including Kayden Fish and Davion Hill, will explore new opportunities with remaining eligibility, and the portal will open Tuesday, April 7. Star Press
