CRIME NEWS

  • Police said that around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday a 32-year-old woman left her East Butler Street home with her 1-year-old and 9-day-old locked inside while she drank, and after crashing her car officers forced entry and found the newborn covered in waste and blue around the mouth as both children were taken to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital—she was later arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and child neglect.  Star Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Delaware County high school students may get free prom gowns on March 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cornerstone Center for the Arts—female officers and community groups will help them choose their dresses while offering beauty tips and light refreshments. The event is free and relies on local donations and partner support.  Star Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Ball State basketball fired its longest-tenured assistant coach Ben Botts after the team ended the 2024 to 2025 season with fourteen wins and seventeen losses and missed the MAC Tournament for the second year in a row. Botts, a Muncie native who served six seasons handling recruiting and offense, was relieved of his duties following a disappointing season.  Star Press
