Ball State University's Board of Trustees approved the Village Green project on March 2, adding green space, public art, and pedestrian upgrades (at southwest corner of Martin Street and University Avenue) as part of its Village Revitalization Plan; design will finish this year and construction will begin spring 2027.
Vera Mae's Bistro closed its doors on Monday, March 2 after 25 years as a downtown landmark; owners Kent Shuff and Steve Fennimore said they will repurpose the space to help local entrepreneurs.
The former dining favorite has been in operation since 1999.
Ball State's pro day on Monday, March 2 in Muncie allowed defensive end Nathan Voorhis (a first-team All-MAC selection) to impress scouts with a 37-inch vertical jump, a 40-yard dash and pass coverage skills.
He now awaits his chance in April's NFL Draft.
