  • A new DG Market will open soon at 700 S. Indiana 67 — near Daleville and Middletown in southern Delaware County — offering fresh meats, produce, and Dollar General goods for local shoppers.  Star Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A Ball State University study finds childhood obesity lowers adult income rank by 20 percentile points and reduces the chance of living in low-poverty neighborhoods. The research shows that females and children from low-income families face greater mobility penalties.  Star Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Indiana Senate passed an animal welfare bill on Feb. 24 that lets rescuers break into cars with trapped animals without paying for full damages if they notify law enforcement, while also increasing penalties for harming police dogs. The bill now goes to the House for further review.  Star Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Vote now for The Star Press IU Health Athlete of the Week for Feb. 16-21, with the poll open until noon Friday, Feb. 27 (voters can choose from high school nominees who excel in wrestling, basketball, swimming and diving).  Star Press
