  • Ace Hardware introduces Ace YardRx, a seasonal lawn care subscription that offers homeowners personalized plans, free delivery, and a 20% discount for new subscribers. The service helps locals prepare for spring (tailoring product choices to yard needs) regardless of Punxsutawney Phil’s forecast.  Star Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Muncie Arts and Culture Council invites residents to join focus groups to shape local arts, with in-person sessions held downtown on Feb 10 and Feb 11 and online sessions scheduled for Feb 18 (each offering multiple time slots).  Star Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ball State University’s Opera Theatre program will celebrate its 10th annual Opera Gala on Feb. 7 at Sursa Performance Hall at 7:30 p.m.—featuring performances by students, faculty and alumni who have earned professional music careers.   • Last November, about a dozen Ball State students visited President Geoffrey Mearns’ office to request asset divestment from companies with Israel ties and were later disciplined for not leaving when asked. The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression says the policy is too broad and limits free speech.  Star Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Nearly 60,000 fewer Hoosiers signed up for health plans after federal subsidies expired—Indiana saw a 16% drop, leaving about 300,000 residents enrolled, and rising premiums could impact many more in the coming months.  Star Press

  • Live scoreboard updates for IHSAA girls basketball sectionals in East Central begin Tuesday, Feb. 3 — sectional championships follow Saturday, Feb. 7 across multiple classes.  Star Press
  • The Star Press and IU Health announced a poll where local voters can choose the Athlete of the Week from 10 nominees who performed from Jan. 26–31 — votes will be accepted until noon Friday.  Star Press
