- ➤ A free event will honor Black women leaders in Muncie's Whitely neighborhood on Feb. 26 at Shaffer Chapel Museum (1501 E. Highland Ave.). Panelists from institutions will discuss the legacy and impact of educators, activists and community builders as part of Bracken Library's 50th anniversary and America 250 initiative. Star Press

- ➤ Ball State University earned top rankings in U.S. News & World Report's 2026 Best Online Programs list as six online programs placed in the top 25 and the business analytics concentration ranked eighth, with the university announcing results Jan. 29. Star Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Indiana lawmakers passed a bill on Jan. 28 to rein in rising electricity costs by switching to performance based rate setting and adding levelized billing plans — a move that will provide low-income aid and suspend shutoffs during heat alerts.
