In 1922, local women organized a tree-planting event along what are now Memorial and Pershing drives to honor local World War I efforts.
The trees were cut down in 1967 to widen a busy road (leaving only a plaque at Heekin Park as a reminder).
Minnetrista Museum & Gardens unveiled a shared leadership model yesterday after Brian Statz remained CEO and Lindsey Horan became president.
The new model is designed to boost strategic planning and strengthen the museum’s community engagement.

Local groups will host a public discussion at Motivate Our Minds Learning Center (2023 E.
Highland Ave) on Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. Indiana education advocate Joel Hand will speak about proposed legislative cuts to public school funding as community partners explore support for students.
