- ➤ Wholesale dairy prices fell due to oversupply and softening demand, and retail milk, butter & cheese prices dropped in Indiana stores today. Some retailers have been slow to adjust, so consumers may notice gradual changes in pricing. Star Press
- ➤ Indiana's weekly unemployment claims rose from 3,479 to 4,694 for the week ending Jan. 3 — national claims climbed to 208,000 with 8,000 more filings than the week before. Star Press
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ After a 40-year career in Muncie mentoring local doctors and supporting health care, Dr. Jeff Bird will retire as president of IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital; he plans to take on part-time work with Delaware County Schools and the YMCA. Star Press
